Alumni Newsletter - HFAA Connect Vol.6 November 2018

Message from ALC Vice President - Phoebe Lu

Dear alumni and friends,

I believe the old saying “Show me your friends and I’ll show you your future” reflects the essence of HFAA in November. We have each chosen to invest time in a community that pushes us by surrounding us with like-minded individuals that work hard for what they believe in and strive to give back.

This is evident in the overwhelming participation of our alumni in the HFAA Professional Development Series of events in Cambodia and Hong Kong this month. So far, there have been five trainings in three locations. The enthusiasm for such events has opened our minds to the possibilities of HFAA's future.

In Hong Kong, our scholar Genin’s workshop on marketing analytics took knowledge sharing to another level by putting on a training-turned-competition among HKBU students eager to put their new skills to practice.

In Cambodia, our alumni were able to reconnect and learn from one another in a leadership and mentorship training. Former classmates enjoyed sharing knowledge gained from the business world - an invaluable opportunity for continued growth beyond their experiences alongside one another in the classroom.

Meanwhile, Nobi and Dory received a warm welcome from our Cambodian alumni during their trip to Phnom Penh.

Within the next few days, Nobi and I, together with past ALC members (Laura, Ben and Roger) will join the Council of Members meeting in Shenzhen with Mr. Hinrich and other HF team members to review this year’s accomplishments and draft strategy for the next year. We will also have the opportunity to catch up with our alumni in Shenzhen and scholars from Hong Kong at a dinner following the meeting.

Read on for an exclusive offer from HF and to learn about new projects being launched at the Hinrich Foundation, including Hinrich Trade Negotiation Simulation, the Sustainable Trade Challenge and the Digital Trade report. Make sure to stay updated on the latest research, particularly for those of us currently working in international trade!

Best regards,

Phoebe Lu (China, HKBU BBA ‘14)

Vice President, Alumni Leadership Committee
