The Hinrich Foundation organized a guided tour to the Global Sources April Trade Show in Hong Kong for students interested to know more about the B2B business.

Nine students from Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Lingnan University joined the event last April 19, 2018 at the Asia World Expo in Hong Kong where they got exclusive access to the world-class trade show and exposure to the B2B export trade show setup and insights on buyer-supplier communications.

Our alumni, Ben Wong (USA, CUHK MBA ’16), who now heads the Online Business Development of Global Sources shared a presentation with the group and related his experiences working in the B2B industry. The students also visited the Gifts & Home, Mobile Electronics shows and the New Sourcing Markets Pavilion (staffed by many alumni and scholars) were they were introduced to the Export Trade Assistance (ETA) work of the Foundation with a talk by another alumna, Carmela Delos Santos (De La Salle University, COMM Arts ’00), the ETA program manager and Alex Boome, program director of the Hinrich Foundation.

“I got more insight about the many terms and situation revolving around Hong Kong’s foreign trade which is very helpful,” Zhang Qichen from Lingnan University said, noting how the tour also provided an opportunity to gain more knowledge about the B2B framework in the trade show and get to learn more about Global Sources and the Hinrich Foundation.

Global Sources holds a bi-annual export trade show in April and October in Hong Kong where suppliers of Consumer and mobile electronics, Gifts & Home, and Fashion Accessories gather to showcase the latest trends in their industries and meet buyers and suppliers around the world.

Hinrich Foundation Program Director, Alex Boome introduces the New Sourcing Markets Pavilion which features unique products made by beneficiaries of the Export Trade Assistance Program.

New Market Pavilion features products from 6 countries: Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia, the Philippines and India.
