Arrival at VGU

University Orientation

Vietnamese-German University

Arrival

When you arrive at the airport

The most convenient way to go to VGU dorm is to use the taxi arranged by VGU, so please note the University’s coordinator about your flight number and arrival time to arrange the driver to pick you up. The driver will hold the board with your name on it so you can recognize him. The taxi fare is about US$32.

Dorm check-in procedure

The taxi driver will take you directly to meet the dorm manager to check in and sign the housing contract. The manager will keep your passport for several days to register your legal stay with local authority.

The coordinator at HF will also connect you with Vietnamese students or senior scholars to support you upon your arrival such as buying housing facilities (mat, blanket, etc.), opening a local bank account and finding some places for food.In case you cannot check into the dorm by the time you arrive, you can ask for the permission from the dorm management staff/ security guards to temporarily stay in the room of those Vietnamese students or senior scholars. They are always willing to help.

Dorm address: Block M1-M7, Uni Town, Tran Quoc Toan Street, Hoa Phu Ward, Thu Dau Mot City, Binh Duong province.

Banking

Your stipend for each semester will be transferred to you via VGU. You should open a local bank account to receive and keep the stipend safe. You need to sign on VGU’s confirmation letter to acknowledge the amount you have received in each semester.

Recommended banks:

1.       Vietcombank – Phu Chanh transaction office:

Block H24-25-26, Dong Khoi Street, Hoa Phu Ward, Thu Dau Mot City, Binh Duong (near Lucky Square Convention & Event Centers)

2.       BIDV – Hoa Phu transaction office:

Block H27-28-29, Dong Khoi Street, Hoa Phu Ward, Thu Dau Mot City, Binh Duong

You just need your passport to open the bank account in Vietnam. The process normally takes one week.
