Lorie Ann Cascaro is a Manila-based Copy Editor with the Hinrich Foundation’s Export Assistance Program. She is responsible for ensuring the timeliness and quality of sourcing reports that help global buyers source more effectively from suppliers across developing Asia.
She began her relationship with the Foundation in 2014 when it awarded her a Global Trade Leader Scholarship to pursue a Master of Arts in International Journalism Studies at Hong Kong Baptist University (Class of 2015).
Prior to her scholarship, she lived in Vientiane, Laos where she was a journalist on an exchange program under the auspices of FK (Fredskorpset) Norway.
Cascaro’s work experience includes working as a Reporter with the Edge Davao and MindaNews, a Public Information Officer and Legislative Staff Member for Congresswoman Luzviminda Ilagan at the Philippine House of Representatives, and a Project Officer for the Commission on Higher Education’s Zonal Research Center at the University of the Philippines-Mindanao.
She taught World Literature and History of Philippine Literature at San Pedro College, and worked full time as a call center agent at Concentrix-Davao while studying her Bachelor of Arts in English at the University of Mindanao.
Cascaro has a passion for journalism and is good at gaining people’s trust easily. She enjoys getting to know many people and travel. If she is not writing or editing, she might be mountain climbing, cycling or surfing.
